International Neighbors meets at the Portage Lake United Church in Houghton each Thursday, from 9:30 to ll:30 from September through May, except on major holidays.
As the name implies, the purpose of International Neighbors is to introduce international visitors to American life and culture, as well as that of other countries, and to provide the opportunity to make friends from this country and other countries. International Neighbors organizes varied activities as well as field trips into the surrounding community. Although the organization is not devoted to language acquisition as such, a good deal of such learning occurs in the natural course of its activities.
